AC ACTION ITEMS

The New Media Institute needs YOUR insight, expertise, advice, guidance and time. You have made important contributions to the NMI and the industry, and working more closely with you ensures continued success of the institute. We ask that council members like yourself to contribute in three key ways:

Engage

The Council fosters productive relationships among faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry allies, enhancing the intellectual and professional missions of the Institute. Individual Council members should take an active role in NMI activities and events and encourage others to do so. Regular attendance is expected at core events such as SLAM and TEDxUGA.

Inspire

Council members will work with students to help them better understand the new media industry. On an annual basis, individual Council members will be asked to speak at a Digital Brown Bag class, advise a team of Capstone students or partner with a specific class initiative.

GIVE

The Council aids in ensuring continued financial stability for the institute. The Council will help the Institute identify corporate and grant funding opportunities, as well as fundraising initiatives. Individual Council members are asked to make a gift to the Institute each year of their term.

Terms of AC Membership


Attendance

Although the work of the Council is important, we are dedicated to minimizing demands on your already busy calendar. The Council convenes two to three times per year in various locations and often in conjunction with other NMI events such as SLAM. It is expected that those who cannot attend meetings participate remotely. Business is also conducted via email between meetings.

Appointment

The Council is comprised of approximately 20 members serving two-year appointments with the option of renewal. Members represent the variety of audiences that work with the NMI.
