The following courses are currently being taught in the NMI.
By examining old new media, now new media, and next new media, this course helps students understand the factors that influence development and acceptance of innovative media technologies.Exploration will focus on the economic, technical, social, and cultural aspects of media technologies.
3 Hours. Fall Only.
Hands on instruction in the use of new media technologies. Upon completion of this course, students will have a working knowledge of how to use new media technology and how to create communication messages with new media technology.

Discussion-based classes that explore the technologies, techniques, and issues shaping new media. Presentations include a single speaker, a panel discussion, or a demonstration. Students interact with new media professionals during class discussions and develop vital career networks.
1 Hour. Fall and Spring.
Optional elective involving multimedia development and production. Emerging communications technologies are used to develop rich media programs for an interactive online environment.

Student teams complete actual new media projects for real clients. Themes, clients, and projects are selected by New Media Institute instructors and student teams. All projects are presented at end of semester show-off which brings together capstone students and corporate partners.

Research and application of emerging new media technologies. Students will examine these technologies in depth and use them in a series of projects. Special attention will be paid to the exploration of ways that organizations can utilize open source data sets to improve their offerings.

TED has pioneered and perfected a new and powerful type of storytelling. This course will examine what makes TED talks and conferences work and the lessons they teach us. In the class, students will work with the TEDxUGA 2014 presenters and serve on the event steering committee. Students wil gain practical event curation and management skills. This class will focus on New Media Analytics and Social Media Analysis and will be taught by Dr. Himelboim.
