These are emails from students who almost didn't get credit for the course because they missed three classes. Since I am stressing attendance this semester, I guarantee I will not be as generous in future semesters.
Future DBB students,
Dr. Shamp,
Being apart of the NMI is a privilege and NOT a right. Knowing this, I should have been more on top of myself in Digital Brown Bag. Coming in late is not an option and it put me in a situation that was uncomfortable. I never thought that I would receive an Incomplete, but I have learned my lesson and I know to take nothing for granted and do what I am supposed to do at all times. Come to class ON TIME and be attentive, it pays off in the end!
Thank you Dr. Shamp, I have learned my lesson and I know this will not happen again.
I screwed up in Digital Brown Bag because me body did not have enough antibodies to fight off Type A Streptococcus, which took one of my absences. Absence two came from a job interview which I had to be two hours away from and the third happened because of the typical college experience. If I were to do this semester over, I would have scheduled my interview for another day, and would try to not get crazy the night before class. So the lesson to learn here kids is to not get sick/hungover/a job on Dr. Shamp days.
Dear Next Semester's Students,
Don't miss your digital brown bag class. I went out of town for an internship interview and skipped class for it. Unfortunately, it affected my grade, so I should have planned my interview around class.
Sincerely,
"As a student who has taken Digital Brown Bag twice, I want to stress to you how important attending these lectures really is. I made the mistake of deciding to skip my two allotted lectures on days that I had to study for huge exams, which only backfired when I ended up having to miss a lecture for health reasons later in the semester. The truth is that all of these guest speakers have a lot to offer us as students who are about to go looking for jobs in the "real world". Even if their profession doesn't seem like something you would want to pursue yourself, I have found that they almost always have ample amounts of appropriate and helpful advice."
I screwed up in Digital Brown Bag by not making sure that I signed the
roll everyday. To make sure you sign the roll, you have to be on time
to every class and you can't leave early!
Hey incoming student,
Make sure you sign the roll each and every DBB class! If it gets lost in the rotation somewhere, go find it.
Also, make sure to come in on time so you sign the roll when it's passed around.
To be on the safe side, do not miss class unless you absolutely have to.
Pay attention, ask questions, and learn from the guests and the oh-so-wise Dr. Shamp.
