Assignments:

Idea Blog
By Friday of each week, you must have written at least 200 words and no more than 400 words about the topic we have assigned for the week. These will be graded in the following manner:
0 = no entry
1 = lackluster entry
2 = insightful entry

Weekly NMI Quizzes
Each week you will need to complete a five question quiz on technology events in the New York Times. The articles will be placed on the NMI website. You must complete the quiz by class time on Monday.

Research Paper
You will need to write a research paper on whether Facebook has fundamentally changed one aspect of your life. This should be a 5 page paper submitted online. The paper must use APA Style and will be judged on content, structure, and mechanics. You must use two sources outside of what we will read in class. Your topic for your paper is due by class time on 10/18. And your final paper is due by class time on 11/7.

Panel Presentation
You will serve on a panel with fellow students where you will present (in three minutes or less) the basic premise of your research paper.

University Functions
You must attend 3 university functions that you believe relate to this class. You can find the list of university functions on the UGA Master Calendar (http://www.uga.edu/mastercalendar/). You must write about these events in your blog. And, on the first class after you have attended an event, you must volunteer to briefly describe the event and your opinion of it.

Provocateurs
Noun: a person who provokes trouble, causes dissension, or the like; agitator.
Each week, a student or students will be designated provocateurs for the coming week. It is their responsibility to keep the class lively and engaging by asking difficult and thought provoking questions. The provocateurs will be judged on the overall quality of the class meeting.
