If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Apple, it’s that pricing must be kept simple. If it’s easy for people to understand how much they are paying and what they’re paying for, they are more apt to buy it. NYT’s proposed paywall model will be completely lost on most consumers. The rules and semantics cannot be communicated effectively and I bet you the take away most people will have is that now you have to pay to read the NYT. End of story. This misunderstanding will keep people away.

Also, the push towards making you subscribe to the print edition and the multiple pricing, depending on how big my screen is could not be more ridiculous. On this point, Dan Wineman said:

Of course you save money if you let the NYT dump weekly paper wads on your doorstep. They have the same revenue model as the Yellow Pages.

Well…in my mind, Droid has even more issues in its core, but that’s not an argument for this thread.

For the reasons you said above, our family always has an old landline phone that gets its power from the phone line plugged in to the wall, in-case of an outage or if our phones fail. Always good to have a backup, regardless of core or cool.
