ABOUT NEW MEDIA UPDATE
Great things are happening inside walls of the New Media Institute at the University of Georgia. Students are creating professional quality work, hosting events that influence and benefit real people in the real world, and learning how to use new media to make a difference. In fact, so much is going on in the NMI that some of the most important projects don’t get the recognition they truly deserve. New Media Update is a project dedicated to reaching out to the world and sharing everything that’s going on inside the walls of the NMI. Outreach via video podcast, created with professionalism by students in the very heart of the NMI, will both increase the visibility of the projects in the NMI and help people get involved who might not have previously heard about it. We are doing great things; let’s tell the world about it!

Hello World!
We couldn't be more excited to start this podcast. We have already put in over 30 hours of work and we only have 1 episode! But many more are on the way...
When Zack is editing and I am working on graphics, website, or content, we have a few rituals. We always sit in the same spots. We always order Jimmy John's at about midnight. We stop working to eat and watch the big flat screen TV in the editing lab/studio. And we make friends with the night staff in Grady. Sort of.
We have spent many a night editing and designing straight through till morning. We are determined to make this podcast the best product we've ever released!
NEW MEDIA INSTITUTE
The New Media Interdisciplinary Certificate (NMIC) is a credential certifying the student's understanding of and proficiency in new media. A student earns the NMIC while completing a degree in his or her chosen field of study. The NMIC guarantees that a graduate is expert in the application of technology within a given profession. To qualify for the certificate students must complete seventeen hours with a B or better in designated courses: eleven hours of certificate core courses and six hours of elective courses.
