There are two stages to entering the New Media Certificate Program.
- Provisional
- Candidate
Provisional Status
- Provisional Status will allow students to enroll in two of the upper division courses required for the New Media Certificate (NMIX4110 New Media Production and NMIX4220 New Media Topics I)
- Students will be allowed to apply for Provisional status after they have enrolled in NMIX2020 — Intro to New Media.
- Preference in Provisional status will be given to students who have completed NMIX2020.
- Students will complete an application to be considered for Provisional status.
- Applications for Provisional Status will be reviewed by instructors in the New Media Institute.
- Students may reapply for Provisional Status.
Candidate Status
- Candidate Status guarantees students admission into the final two upper division courses necessary to complete the Certificate (NMIX4510 New Media Capstone & NMIX4221 New Media Topics II).
- Students must hold Provisional Status to apply for Candidate Status.
- Students must have enrolled in NMIX4110 to apply for Candidate Status.
- Preference in Candidate Status consideration will be given to students who have already completed NMIX4110.
- Students will complete an application to be considered for Candidate status.
- Applications for Candidate Status will be reviewed by instructors in the New Media Institute.
- Students may reapply for Candidate Status.
Steps to the New Media Certificate
- Enroll in NMIX2020 (only taught in the Fall)
- Attend Certificate Information Session (held twice each semester)
- Apply for Provisional Status
- If accepted, enroll in NMIX4110 & NMIX4220
- Apply for Candidate Status
- If accepted, enroll in NMIX4221 & NMIX4510
